Nail Art Guide

One colour.

  • Plain & simple, choose from hundreds of colours & glitter polishes.

  • One colour per nail or hand, as long as it’s straight from the bottle with no mixing involved. #nafonecolour

French.

  • Base colour (usually neutral) with a colour on the free edge.

  • Base colour with a contrasting line of colour at the cuticle.

  • A dot, or two, of contrasting colour on each cuticle.

  • Oval shape of colour or negative space at cuticle

Basic nail art.

  • Loose glitter applied on top of gel polish & sealed in smooth.

  • Coloured foils pressed randomly on top of colour.

  • Neon/shimmer/holographic pigment added on colour.

  • Super shiny chrome pigment applied on top of a base colour.

  • Loose glitter applied in an ombre effect over colour.

  • Water slide transfers/tattoos applied on top of colour.

Simple nail art.

A step-up from Basic, Simple nail art involves a little bit more technique, freehand skill and planning from our wonderful nail technicians. 

  • Colours fading in to each other using pigment, acrylic or gel.

  • Pink to white fade using L & P Acrylic only.

  • Marble, franite or quartz design using blurred lines & stipple.

  • Hand painted leopard print in all colourways.

  • Base colour with simple, hand painted lines painted on.

  • Mix of any one colour, french, basic or simple designs

Detailed nail art.

Things are heating up in here! Detailed nail art is classes as any design that doesn't fit into the above categories, uses more than two colours and requires planning, hand painting and more time.

  • Hand painted, can be created with pigment or glitter too.

  • We are Scottish after all! Hand painted coloured lines.

  • Hand painted flowers, leaves or tropical scenes.

  • SupA salon favourite, the level of detail can take them to Intricate.

  • Star sequins trapped into gel, layered ombre & hand painted.

  • 3D studs, gems & stones applied with lasting wear.

Intricate nail art.

Intricate nail art is defined as a design that requires time for planning, uses a lot of colours, products & techniques. All of our technicians have different strengths when it comes to these designs so please contact us with some design ideas at the time of booking to ensure we can quote you correctly for time & pricing and match you up with the perfect nail artist for you.
